AMA-Perlentaucherin (360°Dance Film)​

AMA, a woman diver, dives into the ocean and takes sea shells, without any equipments like Aqua Lung. This dance theater “AMA-Perlentaucherin” focuses on the present and history of AMA culture, which exists since 3000 years only in Far east region. As a research of it, Yoriko visited the small village in Japan, where many AMAs are still living and working.

This work asks urgent questions to us, who lives in this time when climate change and oceanic pollution become big issues in the world. It addresses the relationship between Nature and Human and the joy of our lives with fluid movements of dancers, video installation and music by Thorsten, a german composer who works as a director of Tangerine Dream.

Because the performances of this work in 2020 had been canceled due to Covid-19 Pandemic, Yoriko Maeno presented it online as a 360° dance film. Hear people can get unusual experiences and new sensations of dance works, that can be only realized with digital technology.
